About Us

Last updated:

Embro Haven is an online shop for embroidered hats and tops: dad caps, truckers, corduroy caps, cuffed beanies, bucket hats, hoodies, crewnecks and a few lighter pieces like pocket tees, quarter-zips, joggers and canvas totes. Every piece carries stitching — a small design, a pair of initials, a name or a date — and nothing is printed. This page explains what we make, how ordering works, the promises we keep on every order and what we will never do.

Our name

“Embro” is short for embroidery, the stitch itself. A “haven” is a calm place you come back to. Put together, the name describes what we wanted the shop to be: a quiet, tidy place to choose a stitched piece without being rushed, upsold or confused. Our logo is an embroidery hoop — the ring that holds fabric tight while it is stitched — framing the letters “EH” drawn like satin stitches. The mint ring and the plum fabric in the logo are the colours you will see across the site.

What we make

We focus on two things first: hats and hoodies. They are the pieces people wear most often and the ones where a small stitched detail makes the biggest difference. Crewnecks come close behind, and a handful of other items round out the range.

Hats

Our Caps & Truckers collection includes soft, low-profile dad caps, two-tone truckers with a mesh back and a corduroy cap with a ribbed texture. Designs sit on the front panel: a wildflower sprig, a single-line mountain range, a tiny wave, lowercase “coffee club” lettering, or your own initials. In Beanies & Bucket Hats you will find cuffed knit beanies with a motif or a name on the fold, and bucket hats with a daisy chain or a moon and stars on the crown. Hats are one size, and our Size Guide explains how to check a hat will sit well before you order.

Hoodies

The Hoodies collection is where placement matters most. Some designs sit on the left chest (a honeybee, a paper plane), one is a larger centre-chest scene (a sun over mountains), one lives entirely on the sleeve (a botanical vine), and one hoodie carries your initials on the chest and an optional date down the sleeve. There is a full-zip hoodie with a pine sprig placed so the zip never cuts through it, and a kids’ pullover with a small rainbow.

Crewnecks and more

Crewnecks carry fruit, animals, script and stars: a lemon slice, a cherry pair under the collar, a line-art cat, a floppy-eared dog, “weekend mode” in script, a constellation down the sleeve, a lowercase “mama” with a tiny heart, and a crewneck with your own name. In Tees, Zips & Totes you will find a pocket tee with a tiny heart, a quarter-zip with a wave, joggers with a little leaf and two canvas totes, one with an olive branch and one with your monogram.

How personalisation works here

Personalised pieces live in Names & Initials. Instead of asking you to email us your text or fill in a form after checkout, we put the fields right on the product page: initials, a name, a date, a sleeve line, a thread colour and, on one crewneck, a choice of block or script lettering. As you type, a live preview shows your text on the product photo, so you can judge the length before adding to the cart.

A few principles guide how we built this:

  • Clear limits. Each field shows how many characters fit — 3 on a cap front, 10 on a beanie cuff, 12 across a crewneck chest — because embroidery cannot shrink letters forever and still look good.
  • Honest add-ons. Optional extras, like a sleeve date, show their price next to the field and are charged only if you use them. Required fields never cost extra.
  • Exactly what you type. We stitch your text as written, including capitals and spacing. We do not send a proof before production, which is why the preview and a careful re-read matter, and why we give you 24 hours to change your order.
  • Your words only. Names, initials, dates and your own short phrases are welcome. Team names, brand names, logos and characters are not; our Intellectual Property Policy explains why.

Where the stitches go

We think placement deserves as much attention as the design, so every product page tells you where the embroidery sits. Our homepage has a placement guide that compares the three pieces we sell most:

  • Hats carry stitching on the front panel, on the cuff of a beanie, or on the crown of a bucket hat.
  • Hoodies offer the left chest for small marks, the centre chest for larger scenes and the sleeve for a quiet line or a date.
  • Crewnecks add one more spot — centred just below the collar — alongside the chest and the sleeve.

If you are choosing a gift and are unsure which placement suits the person, think about how they dress. Someone who layers jackets will see a sleeve detail less often; someone who lives in hoodies will see a chest design every day.

Choosing between our pieces

If you are torn between two kinds of piece, these quick comparisons usually settle it:

  • Dad cap or trucker? A dad cap is soft and low, easy to fold into a bag and calm in colour. A trucker has a mesh back that stays cooler in warm weather and a slightly sportier look.
  • Beanie or bucket hat? A beanie is for cold days and carries its design on the cuff, right above the eyebrows. A bucket hat gives shade from spring to autumn and carries the design on the crown.
  • Hoodie or crewneck? A hoodie is the more relaxed, layered choice and offers the most placements. A crewneck looks neater under a coat or over a collared shirt and frames a small chest design nicely.
  • Pullover or zip? A full-zip hoodie opens for changing temperatures; a pullover keeps a smooth front for a centre-chest design. The quarter-zip sits between the two, with a stand collar.
  • A design or your own text? Ready designs are easy gifts with no spelling to check. Personalised pieces take a minute longer to order and say something only you could say.

Colours and thread

Every product page lists its garment or hat colours as named swatches — Sand, Sage, Heather Grey, Navy, Forest Green and so on — so you always know exactly which shade you chose. Ready designs have their thread colours set for each garment colour, chosen to contrast so the design stays readable: a cream pine tree on a forest-green beanie, a dark green one on mustard. On personalised pieces you choose the thread yourself from Mint, Plum, White, Black, Gold Tone and Navy. As a rule of thumb, light thread reads best on dark garments and the other way round; Plum on Stone and Mint on Charcoal are two of our favourite pairings.

Screens show colours differently, and indoor lighting warms them up. If a colour matters a lot — for a matching set, say — tell us what you are trying to match and we will give you an honest description before you order.

How an order comes together

  1. You choose. Pick a design, a colour, a size and, on personalised pieces, your text and thread colour.
  2. We stitch and pack. Each piece is embroidered for your order, trimmed, folded and packed within 1–3 business days.
  3. It travels. Orders ship free from the USA to the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, and usually arrive within 7–14 business days after they leave us.

We are an online shop without a walk-in store, and our support works by email so that every answer is in writing. Our business address is 2205 Groveland St, Pittsburgh, PA 15234, US.

The promises we keep on every order

  • Free shipping to the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, with no minimum spend.
  • 24 hours to change or cancel your order — text, size, colour, address or the whole thing.
  • 60-day returns, with a free return label from us even if you simply changed your mind.
  • Refunds within 7 days of receiving your return.
  • Store credit that never expires, if you prefer credit to a refund.
  • Replies within 24 hours on business days at support@embrohaven.shop.

The details are on our Shipping & Delivery, Returns & Exchanges and Refund Policy pages. The same numbers appear everywhere on the site, on product pages and in our FAQs, so you never have to wonder which one is right.

What we will not do

Being clear about what we avoid is as important as describing what we offer:

  • We do not show countdown timers, “only 2 left” banners or invented “people are viewing this” messages.
  • We do not show crossed-out “was” prices for sales that never happened.
  • We do not publish reviews or ratings we have not received. When customers send real feedback, we will show it honestly.
  • We do not claim fabric content, thread types or blank brands we have not confirmed; product descriptions stick to what we can stand behind.
  • We do not stitch other people’s brands, teams or characters.
  • We do not sell your personal information.

Caring for embroidery

Embroidered pieces last for years with a little care. Turn tops inside out before washing, use a cool, gentle cycle and dry on low or flat. Never iron directly over the stitches; if you need to press a hoodie, iron the reverse side with a cloth between. Hats prefer a spot clean with a damp cloth and an air dry on a rounded shape, and knit beanies like a cool hand wash and a flat dry. Each product page repeats the care that suits that piece.

Gifts

A lot of what we send is a gift: a beanie with a niece’s name, matching initials hoodies for a couple, a “mama” crewneck for a first Mother’s Day, a constellation sleeve for a friend who likes the night sky. You can ship straight to the recipient’s address in our four countries, and the recipient can exchange the piece within the same 60 days. If you are working to a date, our Shipping & Delivery page shows how to count back from it. For couples and families ordering matching pieces, order them together in one cart: they are prepared in the same 1–3 business day window and, as far as possible, travel together, so the set arrives as a set.
